Solution
Structure of a bean seed:
Bean seed is kidney-shaped.
The seed coat consists of an outer hard covering, testa and an inner thin layer, tegmen. Both layers protect the inner parts from germs and injury.
On the concave side, there is a white, oval scar known as the hilum which represents the mark where the ovule was attached to the wall of the ovary.
Close to the hilum is an opening known as the micropyle through which air and water enter into the seed.
It has two thick cotyledons which store food for the growing embryo.
The embryo contains the radicle- future root and plumule-future shoot.
