Solution

Structure of a bean seed:
  • Bean seed is kidney-shaped.
  • The seed coat consists of an outer hard covering, testa and an inner thin layer, tegmen. Both layers protect the inner parts from germs and injury.
  • On the concave side, there is a white, oval scar known as the hilum which represents the mark where the ovule was attached to the wall of the ovary.
  • Close to the hilum is an opening known as the micropyle through which air and water enter into the seed.
