Explain the technique used to separate the following mixtures:

a) Evaporation technique is used to separate the mixture of sugar and water. Water evaporates on heating the mixture, and sugar is left as a residue.

b) Handpicking technique is used to separate the mixture of stone and rice. Handpicking is used to separate mixtures in which the component differ in size. Stones can easily be identified from the mixture as they differ in size and colour and can be separated by hand-picking
