Explain the term 'green house effect'. What are its benefits? How is it harmful?
Greenhouse effect: The trapping of the earth’s radiated energy by carbon dioxide present in air, so as to keep the earth warm, is called ‘greenhouse effect’.
Benefits of Green house effect: The greenhouse effect is beneficial because this principle is applied to grow plants in colder regions, maintain a temperature to sustain life around the globe.
Harmful effect of Green house effect: But too much carbon dioxide increases the temperature of the atmosphere. Due to the rise in temperature; ice in the polar regions may melt, causing floods. So it is harmful to life on earth.
