(a) Implantation: During the blastocyst stage, when the embryo enters the uterus, it becomes attached to the uterine wall and performs its subsequent development. This attachment of the blastocyst to the uterine wall is known as implantation.
(b) Placenta: It is a temporary organ made up of maternal and fetal tissues jointly during pregnancy. It serves for the transport of nutrients from the mother to the baby and also helps in the exchange of gases between the two.
