Explain the terms with suitable examples :
Alcosol
Aerosol
Hydrosol
Alcosol:
If a solid (dispersed phase) is mixed in alcohol (as dispersion medium), the colloid formed is called alcosol. e.g., cellulose nitrate in ethanol.
Aerosol:
A colloid in which a liquid or a solid is dispersed in a gas (dispersion medium) is known as aerosol e.g., smoke, dust (solid in gas); fog, mist, cloud, insecticide sprays (liquid in gas)etc.
Hydrosol Aqueous sols:
The sols in which a dispersed phase is spread in water (dispersion medium) are called hydrosols e.g., cytoplasm in a living cell, blood, starch sol or gold sol, etc.
