The different tests are performed to Diagnose allergies.

  1. Skin Prick Test (SPT) Skin testing can confirm many common types of allergies.
  2. Intradermal Skin Test.
  3. Blood Tests (Specific IgE)
  4. Physician-Supervised Challenge Tests.
  5. Patch Test.

Skin prick test.

  1. A skin prick test, also called a puncture or scratch test, checks for immediate allergic reactions to as many as 50 different substances at once.
  2. This test is usually done to identify allergies to pollen, mold, pet dander, dust mites and foods. In adults, the test is usually done on the forearm.
  3. Skin prick testing will be done at your doctor's office.
  4. For this test, a doctor or nurse will lightly prick the skin on your back or arm with a comb-like tool.
  5. Then, they will add a small amount of a suspected allergen over the pricked area.
  6. You'll know, and feel, the results more quickly than with a blood test.
    Treatments for allergy.
  7. Your doctor might suggest over-the-counter or prescription medication in the form of pills or liquid, nasal sprays, or eyedrops. Immunotherapy.
  8. For severe allergies or allergies not completely relieved by other treatment, your doctor might recommend allergen immunotherapy
