Explain the types of volcano on the basis of nature of eruption.

Solution:On the basis of nature of eruption, volcanoes are classified into two types -
  • Central Eruption:
    • In this type, there is a violent eruption of magma from the vent. It is also called Explosive type of eruption.
    • Vesuvius and fujiyama volcanoes show this type of eruption.
  • Fissure eruption :
    • In fissure eruption, lava comes out over a large area and the eruption is slow and less violent.
    • It is therefore called quite type of eruption.
    • Deccan Plateau in India is an example.
