Unification of Japan:
The Tokugawa bound together Japan by keeping a solid medieval presence after Tokugawa Ieyasu assumed responsibility for Japan. Tokugawa Ieyasu previously held a fortress in Edo (future Tokyo) and proceeded with his military mission against Toyotomi's last fortification in Osaka. A significant explanation Tokugawa had the option to hold onto control at first was the passing of Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Without focal initiative, the Toyotomi were debilitated, which gave Tokugawa the high ground and the chance to grow sufficient force to kill most of his resistance and those faithful to the Toyotomi. When Tokugawa had unlimited authority, he kept up solidarity in Japan by putting limits on the size of other military powers and by building up a cozy relationship with the sovereign.
