Nutrition is the process of obtaining food. There are two types of nutrition.
1. Autotrophic nutrition - The mode of nutrition in which organisms (plants) make their own food using sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide is known as autotrophic nutrition.

2. Heterotrophic nutrition- The mode of nutrition in which organisms consume food, cannot manufacture their own food is known as heterotrophic nutrition. Animals and some plants are heterotrophic organisms. They are dependent on plants and other animals for nutrition.

In case of autotrophic nutrition, the raw materials are inorganic.
In case of heterotrophic nutrition, the raw materials are mainly organic.
