Instructions: In this question give the detail of taluk panchayat like it works on taluk level, members are directly elected, have reservations for SC, ST, women etc.

Solution: Taluk Panchayat which works at Taluk level. The members of the Taluk Panchayat are directly elected by the eligible voters. One elected representative is for every 12,500 to 15000 voters.

Like Gram Panchayat, Taluk Panchayat also reserved seats for SC, ST, backward classes and women. One-fifth of the presidents of the Gram Panchayat serve as the members of the Taluk Panchayat.

There is a lottery system to choose the President. They are nominated on a rotation basis for a period of one year.

These nominated members have the right to vote and participate in all meetings except the election of the President and Vice-President takes place and the no-confidence motion is tabled.

The members of the Taluk Panchayat are elected for 5 years.
