Explain what is roasting.

Roasting is a process in which ores are heated to a high temperature below their melting point in the presence of excess air. During this process, moisture is lost and sulphur, arsenic, phosphorus and other impurities are oxidized to volatile oxides.
Roasting is usually carried out in reverberatory furnace.
