Adaptation in grasslands:

  1. Adaptation is a long-term behavioral or physical modification in a living organism such as plants and animals that helps it survive in its habitat better.
  2. Grasslands are habitats that are regions which abundant grass population and low tree density.
  3. Therefore the apex predator such as lions, and tigers have more chances of catching prey such as deer.
  4. Both these classes of predator and prey have adapted a few characteristics which increase their chances of survival.

a)

  1. Lions are carnivores that feed on the plant-eating herbivores deer.
  2. Lions have eyes in the front of their head to estimate the location of the prey standing at a great distance with high precision.

b)

  1. The deer have eyes on the sides of their head because it gives them a wider range of vision.
  2. It can observe all the possible directions from where the predators may approach.
  3. Thus, giving them a chance to escape from the predators.
