Solution

a) A pencil may not write on a glass because glass surface is very smooth and has no friction where as paper has friction and pencil's lead easily settles on it.

b)It is difficult to climb on a grease pole because when we want to climb a pole there should be friction which help us to climb it and due to grease on pole it decreases the friction to very low point where we are not able to make grip on the pole hence making it difficult for us to climb..
