Open in App
Solution
Haemodialysis:
Haemodialysis is a procedure of removing urea from the blood of patients affected by uremia and kidney failure.
It is called artificial kidney because it replaces the function of the kidney i.e. removing urea from the blood.
In hemodialysis, the blood passes through a solution that has the same composition as that of plasma but without the nitrogenous wastes i.e. urea.
Thus, by the concentration gradient of waste, it moves from blood to the dialysis fluid
The purified blood is then sent back to the body
