Explain why a substance expands on heating?

1. When a substance is heated, its molecular movement increases. Due to this, the average distance between the molecules also increases, thereby increasing the volume of the substance, i.e., expanding the substance.
2. When we heat a substance its molecules gain energy and start vibrating rapidly and start expanding the length, area, and volume of the substance. As a result, a substance expands.
