Question

Explain why alkali metals never found in free state?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student

The alkali metals contains only one electron in its valance shell which never leave these alkali metals in its free state.
Alkali metals have the highest second ionisation enthalpy and larger ionic radii. Therefore, alkali metals has a tendency to form unipositive ion rather than present in free state.
