Iron nail sinks in water because of their greater density than water.
Any how the weight of an iron nail is greater than the weight of water displaced by it when placed in water and thus the nail sinks in water.
While the shape of the iron ship is made in such a way that it displaces its own weight.
The ship is hallowed and empty, this empty shape contains air that makes the average density of the ship lesser than that of the water in which it is placed.
Hence, the ship floats on water whereas iron nail sinks.
