Explain why photosynthesis is considered the most important process in biosphere ?

Photosynthesis is a process in which green parts of the plants synthesize complex organic food substances (carbohydrates) using carbon dioxide and water in the presence of sunlight and release oxygen as a by-product. In this process, energy from the sun is converted into chemical energy. It is an anabolic, endergonic and oxido-reduction process.

The use of energy from sunlight by plants for photosynthesis is the basis of life on earth. Food represents the stored energy of sun rays and is manufactured by green plants with the aid of sunlight during photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is considered the most important process in biosphere due to following reasons:

1. It is the primary source of food on earth.
2. It is also responsible for the release of oxygen into the atmosphere by green plants which is needed by mostly all life forms.
