Question

explain why polar liquids have a low vscousity and not heat of evaporation . i mconfued that when they have high boiling point they also should have high heat of evaporatn

Solution

Viscosity is related to the strength of the forces acting between the molecules. In polar liquids these are due to hydrogen bonding and these forces are less compared to the more viscous liquid which have multiple hydrogen bonding and other dispersion forces. Thus polar bonds are less viscous and as the forces are less their heat of evaporation is less. Because these molecules are easily vaporised.
