Explain why soda water bottles burst in very hot weather

Open in App
Solution

1. We know that gases exert more pressure in comparison to liquids when taken in a closed container.

2. This is because, the particles in gases are scattered and they hit the eachother and walls of container, thus creating pressure.

3. In hot weather, due to high temperature, the CO2 in the soda water is released in the air in the bottle, and creates pressure, which makes the bottle to burst.
