Explain why the balloon attached to the bottle mouth inflates when the bottle is kept in the hot water as shown below.

Solution

When the bottle is kept in hot water, the air inside it gets heated. Hot air is lighhter and rises upward. Therefore, it rises up inside the balloon. So, the balloon inflates.
