Explain why the surface of mortar and pestle (silbatta) used for grinding is etched again after prolonged use?

Open in App
Solution

After prolonged use, the mortar and pestle (silbatta) lose the roughness, due to which frictional force reduces and it does not work properly. To make it more effective etching becomes necessary because etching provides it more friction.
