Explain why there is no rise in temperature of water when it starts boilibg although it is still being heated.

When water reaches boiling point and starts boiling, a large amount of energy is required to convert water to steam. this is known as latent heat of vapourisation. so all the heat supplied is used to convert water to steam and therefore temperature does not rise.
