Solution

Consider a stone which is lying on the roof. The stone which is at rest has a potential energy. The stored potential energy in it is used to lift the stone against the force of gravity. The stone has a capacity to do an equal amount of work when it is allowed to fall.

When we draw a bow with the string bow is able to store energy as the result of its position as the bow and arrow are not in motion hence they are at rest and still have the energy (potential energy).
