Explain with example types of asexual reproduction in unicellular organism

The type of reproduction in which no gametes are involved and the new organisms emerge from a single parent only is called asexual reproduction. There is no fusion of gametes in asexual reproduction and the chromosome number also remains constant. Various types of asexual reproduction include division, budding, spore formation, etc.

Budding in Hydra

1. Asexual reproduction in which a new organism develops from a bud in the parent.

2. This bud is simply an outgrowth of cells at one particular site.

3. The bud or the new organism remains attached to the parent and gets detached on maturation.

Binary fission in Amoeba

1. It is the type of asexual reproduction in which the parent divides to give rise to two daughter organisms.

2. The parent replicates its genetic material and divides it equally between the two daughters.

3. Both the cytoplasm and the nucleus of the parent divides into two.
