Question

Explain, with the help of a distance-time graph, what is meant by uniform motion.

Open in App
Solution

When a body travels equal distances in equal intervals of time, the body is said to be in uniform motion. A distance-time graph for the motion of a body is shown in the figure. As the graph is a straight line with a constant slope, so we can say that the body covers equal distances in equal intervals of time or simply the speed of the body is constant. Therefore, the motion is uniform motion.
