Open in App
Solution

Zeeman Effect:

  1. Pieter Zeeman, a Dutch scientist, discovered the Zeeman effect.
  2. According to Zeeman effect, n the presence of a high magnetic field, the spectral lines of an atom breaks.
  3. It can be seen in a magnetic field that has been applied.
  4. The Zeeman effect is caused by the interaction of the atom's magnetic moment with the external magnetic field.

Stark's Effect:

  1. Johannes Stark, a German scientist, discovered the Stark effect.
  2. According to Stark Effect, when radiating atoms, ions, or molecules are exposed to a high electric field, their spectral lines split.
  3. In an applied electrical field, the Stark effect can be seen.
  4. The interaction between the atom's electric moment and the external electric field causes the Stark effect.
