Express the following with a single exponent:

(24)3×232×224

Open in App
Solution

For any non-zero integer a, where mandn are whole numbers,

amn=am×n

So, (24)3= 24×3 where a=2,m=4,n=3

=212………………….(1)

Also, 232=23×2 where a=2,m=3,n=2

=26………………….(2)

Also, 224=22×4 where a=2,m=2,n=4

=28………………….(3)

Therefore, (24)3×232×224=212×26×28 (From (1), (2) and (3))

we know that, am×an=am+n

Exponents can be added only when the bases are the same.

So, 212×26×28=212+6+8

=226 .

Therefore, (24)3×232×224=226.
