Pure Nitrogen preparation:

  • When Sodium or Barium azide is heated, it produces exceedingly pure Nitrogen.
  • Sodium azide is heated at 573K and forms Sodium and pure Nitrogen gas
  • Here since the sodium produced is in the solid-state the nitrogen gas will be highly pure.

  • Azide salt of barium can be obtained in the purest form and it produces barium as a solid and nitrogen gas when heated.

  • As a result, no additional filtration is required.

Therefore, Extra very pure N2 can be obtained by heating Sodium azide (NaN3) or Barium azide (BaN32)
