Factorisation: 2 Marks each

$1) 12 x^{2} - 7 x + 1$

$= 12 x^{2} - 4 x - 3 x + 1$ [splitting middle term]

$= 4 x (3 x - 1) - 1 (3 x - 1)$

$= (3 x - 1) (4 x - 1)$

$2) 2 x^{2} + 7 x + 3$

$= 2 x^{2} + 6 x + x + 3$ [splitting middle term]

$= 2 x (x + 3) + 1 (x + 3)$

$= (x + 3) (2 x + 1)$
