Factorise the expression m24m21

Open in App
Solution

Comaring m24m21 with the identity x2+(a+b)x+ab we not that ab = - 21, and a + b = - 4. So, (-7) + 3 = 4 and (-7)(3) = -21
Hence, m24m21=m27m+3m21
=m(m7)+3(m7)
=(m7)(m+3)
Therefore m24m21=(m7)(m+3)
