We know $P (- 2) = 0$
Thus, $x + 2$ is a factor
The other factor is $x^{2} - 7 x + 12$
$= x^{2} + 4 x + 3 x + 12$
$= (x - 3) (x - 4)$
Thus, $x^{3} - 5 x^{2} - 2 x + 24 = (x + 2) (x - 3) (x - 4)$
