Facts about respiratory system of plant/ animals.:-

In plant :

• The rate of respiration in plants is lower than that of animals.
• Plant exchange the gases by opening and closing of stomata.
• Plants give out CO₂ at night time as there is no sunlight and hence no process of photosynthesis occurs.

In animals :

• Humans use lungs for respiration, but birds use air sacs, insects use trachea, fish use gills for exchange of gases.
• The capillaries present in the lungs would have stretched to about 1600 km if they were joined end to end.
• The surface area of lungs is roughly the size of tennis court.
