Succinate changes to fumarate in the citric acid cycle. The succinate is a four carbon molecule which is oxidized, to fumarate. In this reaction, two hydrogen atoms with their electrons are transferred to FAD and converts into FADH2 in presence of enzyme succinate dehydrogenase.
