Farming is main activity in Palampur. Other non farming activities such as small scale manufacturing, dairy, transport, etc. are carried out on limited scale. 75% of working people are dependent on farming for their living. But land area under cultivation is fixed which is basic constraint in raising farm production.
Farmers are able to grow different crops in a year in village due to the well-developed system of irrigation. All farmers in Palampur grow two main crops but now many are growing potato as the third crop in the past fifteen to twenty years.
