Hilaire de Chardonnet
The sky rocketing prices of silk and the increasing instances of diseases among silkworms led two scientists Louis Pasteur and Hilaire de Chardonnet to start research on saving the silk industry and led to the invention of the first man-made fibre, Rayon in 1885. For this Hilaire de Chardonnet is considered as Father of Rayon.
