Ferric ions react with potassium ferricyanide to form brown colored ferric ferricyanide (compound X). The oxidation state of all the iron atoms is +3.
The compound X reacts with hydrogen peroxide to give purssian's blue, ferric ferrocyaninde (compound Z). Th oxidation state of iron in the ionization sphere is +3 and the oxidation state of iron in the ionization sphere is +2. Thus, this iron atom is reduced.
