Given, a=5Ao=5×108cm
Mass = density × volume of unit cell
Gram molar mass of FeO = 56 + 16 = 72g
To get the number of formula units per unit cell,
Number of formula units=Mass of a mole of unit cellsgram molar mass of FeO
n=3.84×(5×108)3×6×102372=4
Hence, there are 4 FeO units per unit cell, i.e. 4 each of Fe2+ and O2 ions
