The correct option is C 3.5 mA
Given, VZ=VL=6 V

The maximum Zener current will be corresponding to maximum unregulated voltage (16 V). So,

IL=VLRL=64×103

IL=1.5×103 A=1.5 mA

And, IS=16VL2×103

=(166)2×103=5 mA

Now, applying KCL,

IS=IZ+IL

5=IZ+1.5

IZ=3.5 mA

Hence, (B) is the correct answer.
