Solution

Thigmotropism:

  1. Thigmotropism is a type of directional growth movement produced in plants in response to friction or contact with objects.
  2. Plants respond to an external stimulus by gradually moving. This is called tropism. Tropism can either be in the direction of the stimulus (positive tropism) or away from it in an opposite direction (negative tropism).
  3. Tendrils of certain plants like grapevine and Cucurbita produce a curvature movement when it comes in contact with objects. This provides support, helps the weak stems of the plant climb, and keeps it upright.

Final answer:
The tendrils provide a well-known example of thigmotropism.
