Solution

The correct option is D a little

Some basic things that we need to remember are that "little" as used as an adjective refers to a physical size of one or more countable nouns. For example: "A little man" refers to one single man who is little. The indefinite article "a" refers to this indefinite but countable "little man". Whereas, "a little" can also be used to signify quantity of an uncountable noun. Since sugar is an uncountable noun, we cannot use "few" and "many". They are only used for countable nouns. So, Option A and Option C are out.

'Much' is wrong because the second part of the sentence says the subject doesn't like sugar so they would not put 'much' of it on the fruit. In the second part of the sentence, we can understand that the person does not like the sugar a lot, thus he/she put a bit of it on the fruit. "A bit of" is also similar to "a little". So, little is our correct answer,

Option D is correct
