(a) Salts of transition elements are generally coloured. From the ions K1+, Cr3+, Fe2+, Ca2+, SO32−, MnO41−, NO31− the ions generally coloured are Cr3+, Fe2+ and MnO4- .
(b) The hydroxide that is soluble in excess of NaOH is Zn(OH)2.
(c) The salt that will not react with NH4OH solution is NH4Cl.
(d) The substance/s that react/s with hot concentrated NaOH solution and undergoes a neutralisation reaction is/are Al2O3 and Al(OH)3.
(e) To distinguish soluble salts of zinc and lead NH4OH can be used.
