Solution

Definition of prime and composite numbers:

A prime number is a number that has only two factors, 1 and the number itself.

A few examples are 2,3,5,7,11, etc. Note that 2 is the only even prime number. Every other prime number is odd.

A composite number is a number that has more than 2 factors.

A few examples are 4,6,8,10, etc.

Thus, numbers having only two factors are called prime numbers and numbers having more than 2 factors are called composite numbers.

Hence, numbers more than 1 that have only two factors are called prime numbers and numbers more than 1 that have more than two factors are called composite numbers. Also, every even except 2 is a composite numbers.
