A factor is a number that divides the given number exactly without leaving any remainder and the number of factors of a number is limited.

  • A number is the greatest factor of itself.
  • The number of factors of a number is limited.
  • 1 is a factor of every number as we can write any number n as 1×n.

Example: 35 is exactly divisible by 5with quotient 7. Thus, 5 and 7 are factors of 35 and the factors of 35 are1,5,7and 35

Hence, 1 is a factor of every number.
