Question

High speed wind can cause cyclone in regions of ___________ pressure.

Open in App
Solution

Cyclone:

  1. It is a kind of storm or system of winds that rotates about a center of low atmospheric pressure, advances at a speed of 20 to 30 miles an hour, and brings heavy rain.

Formation of the cyclone:

  1. The formation of a cyclone is directly proportional to the warming up of water vapor in seas.
  2. As the water evaporates in seas, it releases heat to the atmosphere where the air gets this heat and expands thus creating a low-pressure area.
  3. This continues as long as there come high-speed winds flowing into the low-pressure area from a high-pressure area to maintain equilibrium.
  4. These high-speed winds can create cyclones, tornados, etc.
  5. This leads to the formation of the cyclone formation.

So cyclones are formed due to the formation of areas containing varying pressure. Thus, giving rise to high-speed winds.
