Question

In a bar magnet, magnetic attraction is _____ near its ends.

Open in App
Solution

Bar magnet:

  1. Poles of a magnet have magnetic strength greater than the rest part of the magnet.
  2. A bar magnet has two magnetic poles: north pole and south pole.
  3. As the distance from the pole increases, the density of the magnetic force of lines decreases.
  4. Hence the magnetic force of lines is more crowded at the poles compared to the center of the magnet.
  5. That's why the strength of the magnetic field at the north and south pole magnet is more compared to the center of the magnet.

Hence, the magnetic attraction is maximum at the ends of a bar magnet.
