Fill In the Blanks

If Mean : Median = 2 : 3, then Mode : Mean = ________

Open in App
Solution

Mean : Median = 2 : 3 (Given)

Let mean = 2x and median = 3x, where x is constant .....(1)

We know

Mode = 3Median − 2Mean

⇒ Mode = 3 × 3x − 2 × 2x [From (1)]

⇒ Mode = 9x − 4x = 5x

∴ Mode : Mean = 5x : 2x = 5 : 2

Thus, the ratio of mode to mean is 5 : 2.

If Mean : Median = 2 : 3, then Mode : Mean = ___5 : 2___.
