As we know that, two angles are said to be complementary angles if they add up to 90°. As shown in the figure below :

Now, as per the question :

The sum of AOE and DOE is 90°.( i.e. AOE+DOE=AOD=90°) (AOB=AOD=90°)

Hence AOE and DOE are complementary angles.
