Types of WBCs:

  1. There are five types of White Blood Corpuscles/Leucocytes namely - Neutrophils, Eosinophils, Basophils, Lymphocytes, and Monocytes.
  2. The neutrophils, eosinophils, and basophils are granular, that is they contain numerous granules in the cytoplasm.
  3. The lymphocytes and monocytes are agranular, that is they lack granules.

Phagocytosis:

  1. The process of ingesting or engulfing the foreign particles or pathogens that enter the body to excrete them is called phagocytosis.
  2. The WBCs - neutrophils, and monocytes are capable of doing phagocytosis and are hence called phagocytic cells.

Neutrophils and monocytes are phagocytic cells.
