The ratio of the area of the shaded portion to that of the whole figure is ___.

From the above figure, we find that:

Area of shaded portion = Length × Breadth = 2×1=2 sq units

Area of shaded figure = Length × Breadth = 4×3=12 sq units

Ratio of shaded portion two whole figure

=212=16 [on dividing numerator and denominator by 2]

= 1: 6

Hence, the ratio of the perimeter of the boundary of the shaded portion to the perimeter of the whole figure is 1 : 6.
